Travelers of the Month

Katie B.
Travel Speech Pathologist
Traveler of the Month - October 2010
If you were to ask Katie B. what she enjoys about her position
as a travel speech pathologist for 360 Healthcare Staffing, it
would be the things we hear frequently from our employees -- the
opportunity to work with many patients, meeting new people and the
chance to explore different locations.
Katie’s career as a speech pathologist spans 30 years, with 14
of those years spent as a travel therapist. For the past four
years, Katie has worked for 360 Healthcare Staffing and its
predecessors and is currently enjoying travel assignments on
Florida’s west coast. Her patients typically include those
recovering from stroke or who have dementia, dysphagia, dysarthria
and other voice conditions. Katie believes that having genuine care
for her patients, an appreciation of their circumstances and a
positive attitude are the keys to providing compassionate, quality
care.
“My philosophy on life is to make someone else’s life better,
happier, fuller and richer,” Katie says. “My goal is to help others
uncover their gifts and strengths by encouraging them to believe in
themselves and in the possibility that things can change.”
Working as a travel therapist has helped Katie further develop
her own strengths, thanks to numerous in-services and close
collaboration with the therapists she meets on assignment. What
else does she enjoy about working as a travel therapist? Having the
opportunity to visit local shops to find just the right book to
indulge her love of reading.
