Travelers of the Month

Marjorie O.
COTA/L, CPT
Traveler of the Month - January 2011
As a travel therapist with 360 Healthcare Staffing, Marjorie, a
COTA/L and CPT, has gained valuable experience through her
assignments with Aegis Therapies. In addition to learning and
utilizing specialized therapy programs such as continence
management and balance management, Marjorie uses Allen Cognitive
Levels to determine patients’ levels of functional independence.
Through these programs and her commitment to clinical excellence,
Marjorie has had many rewarding experiences with her patients. One
patient in particular made a lasting impression.
“I worked with an 80-year-old stage 4 cancer patient,” says
Marjorie. “Despite her illness, she never complained about what was
happening to her, never asked ‘why me?’ or let her physical
discomfort show,” says Marjorie. “Her family was greatly involved
in her treatment, and on her “good days” she talked about the love
she had for them, and the acceptance she had of her condition. Even
when she was feeling her worse, she always asked how you were
doing, what was going on in your life. She graced me with the
ability to guide her and her family to a peaceful end and even
though I only knew her for those last four weeks, she changed my
life through how I perceive love, family and challenges.”
Marjorie shares her inspiration with her co-workers, who inspire
her in their own way. “I write an inspirational quote each morning
on our OT board,” says Marjorie. “And I enjoy greeting my patients
and co-workers as they come in. I just appreciate the opportunity I
have to work with such an awesome team of therapists and nurses,
and to use my skills to help others.”
