Vice President of Clinical Services – Long Term Care

We are conducting a national search effort for the following career opportunity as VP of Clinical Services.

Description

The primary purpose of this Vice President of Clinical Services position is to oversee the clinical operations of projects, owned or managed. Facilities should be run in accordance with current Federal, State, and Local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern long-term care facilities to assure that the highest degree of quality care provided to our clients at all times.

As the VP of Clinical Services, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out a successful department.

Summary of VP Clinical Services functions

  • Support and Direct Facility Clinical Leadership to assure the facility’s clinical programs and activities are planned, developed, organized, & implemented.
  • Oversee development, maintenance and annual review of written policies and procedures that govern the operation of the clinical leadership team.
  • Review inspection reports from governmental agencies or accrediting bodies and assist in implementing corrective action and formal written responses to inspections.
  • Serve on various committees of the organization and provide written/oral reports to such committee meetings.
  • Assist the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) Committee in developing and implementing appropriate plans of action to correct identified performance improvement opportunities.
  • Perform operational audits routinely to assure services are delivered according to standards.
  • Identify, plan, and develop existing or new clinical programs that keep with the mission of the organization.
  • Lead clinical leaders at ALF locations in analysis, understanding and management of quality performance indicators.
  • Demonstrate understanding of Minimum Data Set Resident Assessment Instrument.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in CMS reimbursement models, ex: RUGS, BDI, ACO and post-acute payment models.
  • Monitors implementation of Restorative Nursing principles and programs.
  • Standardizes and monitors implementation of Memory Care programs.
  • Champion and lead efforts to maximize EMR use and adoption.
  • Monitor for and lead efforts to implement new regulatory requirements that impact the clinical program.
  • Monitor key areas of performance to assure clinical excellence, ex.: fall rates, pressure ulcer management, psychoactive medication management, complaint rates, state reportable rates, recidivism, and infection rates.

  • Delegate administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability to other staff personnel as deemed necessary to perform their assigned duties.
  • Counsel/discipline personnel as requested or as may become necessary.
  • Provide input to facility clinical leadership related to purchase/use of clinical service supplies and equipment including capital.
  • Identifies best of breed equipment for use system wide.
  • Promotes educational awareness to all staff.
  • Monitors for client complaints that may indicate unresolved clinical systems’ problems. (satisfaction surveys)
  • Monitors and assists facility clinical leadership in the planning, conducting, and scheduling of in-service training classes, on-the-job training and orientation programs to assure that current material and programs are continuously provided.

Skills Necessary

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required with current R.N. licensure. Masters of Science in Nursing, CNP/CNS preferred.
  • Prefer as a minimum, 3 years(s) experience in a supervisory capacity in a long-term care facility.
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered Nursing license. Knowledge and experience of standard nursing policies and procedures in a skilled nursing environment, current licensure in States of operation or ability to obtain license within agreed upon time frame.
  • Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care and maintaining a sound operation.
  • Must be thoroughly familiar with laws, regulations, and guidelines governing personnel administration.
  • Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle clients, staff, and visitors, based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
  • Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.

Expected Salary — $120,000 -$135,000
